about seymour

seymour apregilio is a historical keyboard and modern piano technician based in nyc.she hasn't been able to shut up about anything that has keys since her first piano lesson at the age of three. she fell in love with piano maintenance when she found herself "watering the pianos" for her work study job during her university years. there were no doubts – she wanted to be a piano technician and she started learning how to tune on the floor of her local piano store.her journey with early keyboards started with an apprenticeship at zuckermann harpsichords in stonington, connecticut. serving as zuckermann's head of the action department, seymour's passion for keyboard instruments brought her to the west coast, working on a variety of keyboards under the harpsichord shop in seattle, washington. she also serviced pianos at the downtown seattle steinway & sons floor and other pianos throughout the greater seattle area in residences and institutions. she is happy to be back on the east coast, working on her craft in the great musical hub that is new york city.seymour is dedicated to good sound, being a team player, and the comfort of the keyboardist behind the keys. she wants every musician to be able to focus and feel good about their craft. she feels incredibly lucky to have found her life's calling.seymour is currently working at the juilliard school, overseeing their catalog of historical keyboards and maintaining a territory of pianos. she services pianos across the city as a steinway-approved piano technician and is in demand as a concert technician for many of the early music and period concerts in new york. she enjoys learning directly from builders and technicians when the opportunity arises to continue growing her toolbox of knowledge and resources. in her free time, seymour can be found taking long walks in central park with her shiba inu, shopping for stationery that she really doesn't need, and sipping an iced beverage while contemplating how she, too, can contain multitudes....sometimes seymour is bad at getting to texts or emails on time...if it's been a few days, ping her again. she's sorry for the way she is.
